Rubber is Our Life and Our Future
IAMD International Asset Management and Development Corporation, North Carolina
Unfavorable economic conditions persist in the United States. The melt-down in 2008 and its consequences affected the real estate market not only in the U. S. but also our two target markets, Panama and Cambodia.
Panama was in large part dependent on U. S. customers for many developments there. Although the market did not collapse as in the U. S., the going got rougher and U. S. citizens felt that Panama, at least for the time being, was not the ideal retirement place after all.Cambodia was not directly hit by the 2008/9 recession but as a developing country felt the consequences nevertheless. Although its economy is growing at a rate the developing world would be envious of, it is after all still a developing country. As a smaller U. S. company we felt we did not have the strength to continue investing in those countries.
We, therefore, decided to cease doing business as IAMD. The developments in Panama were shifted to a Panamanian company. The interests in Cambodia were transferred to a Cambodian entrepreneur. For details please visit http://www.hou-enterprises.com . The rubber business there has grown considerably and due to the high prices in the industry has turned into a very profitable venture. There are other promising ventures in Cambodia but Hou Enterprises decided to stay with the core business. Hou Enterprises also cooperates with a Dubai investment group, Zafco – www.zafco.com – in establishing a large rubber plantation in Cambodia.
